Julie Stern

Julie Stern is a four-time, bestselling author with two decades experience facilitating adult learning. She supports educators and parents with tools to empower young people to make sense of complexity and use their learning to promote sustainability, equity, and well-being. Through keynotes, online courses, consulting, and writing, Julie teaches others how to become pattern seekers — recognizing the deeper patterns of the world  — so that they can be who they want to be and build the type of world they want to live in. Her publications include Learning that Transfers, Visible Learning for Social Studies, The On-Your-Feet-Guide to Learning Transfer and Tools for Teaching Conceptual Understanding, Elementary and Secondary. Julie moves internationally every few years with her husband, a US diplomat, and her two children.

 

Julia Briggs

Julia Briggs has taught middle and high school Science and Chemistry for over a decade. She is originally from the UK and has taught both British and IB programmes, she is an author of the On Your Feet Guide to Learning Transfer, is certified in Concept-Based Curriculum and Instruction, and is a Spanish speaker currently living in Bogota, Colombia.  Julia is passionate about supporting teams to develop their practice and transform student learning. She coaches educators and departments across grade levels (from Early Years applying conceptual transfer to learning through play), in multiple disciplines, and various curriculum frameworks in English and Spanish. She is pursuing a Master’s in Educational Leadership at Tampere University of Applied Science in Finland.

LaShaun “Frank”  Franklin

LaShaun “Frank” Franklin is a native of Washington, DC and product of the DC Public School system. As an undergrad, Frank attended the University of Maryland, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in American Studies with a primary focus on English and an interdisciplinary focus on Law and Criminal Justice. Frank earned a Master’s degree in Adult and Continuing Education from the university of the District of Columbia. Throughout her career, Frank served as an instructor or an administrator at the primary, secondary, and adult levels. In her other time, Frank is a writer, podcaster, and aspiring journalist.

Carmel Lim Torres

Carmel Lim Torres is a practicing artist as well as art educator, with more than 15 years teaching at middle, high, and university levels. She earned a BFA in Sculpture with a Thesis Distinction. She is a repatriated third culture kid growing up in five different countries and an IB alumna. Carmel now lives in Manila and loves to share her passion for the process of art making and exploring the world. Carmel serves as the Arts Specialist for the team, where she partners with visual and performing arts educators on designing powerful, conceptual learning that transfers. 

Mihai Catrinar

Mihai Catrinar is an adventurer and explorer who loves to promote well-being, health, and fitness through movement, play, and goal setting. He is skilled in technology, curriculum development, and professional learning. Originally from Romania, Mihai now teaches internationally as an IB educator, workshop leader, and department head. He serves as the Physical Education & Health Specialist for the team, where he partners with PE & Health educators on designing powerful, conceptual learning that transfers.
