Today we feature one of our fabulous Ed2Save Fellows, Ariam Mogos. She is on her way to Kenya to develop an innovation lab where young people test out their solutions to local challenges.



During our recent collaborative, Ariam offered up a challenge many of us face: How do we support teachers to take on important programming especially when they already face heavy workloads? She received lots of great suggestions from other Ed2Save Fellows — and we will continue to support her as she spends 6 months developing her program in Kenya.

Ariam is a program designer, educator, development worker and researcher in the ICT4D and civic innovation field. She is currently the Director of New Initiatives and Research at international NGO Global Minimum, where she helps create opportunities for youth to innovate and implement their own solutions to local issues. Prior to that, she worked at the American Museum of Natural History in the Center for Science Literacy, Education and Technology, where she supported youth programming and the implementation of mobile and web based technologies for learning. Ariam received her master’s degree from Columbia University in Human Rights with a focus on International Development, and her bachelor’s degree from Cornell University in Industrial and Labor Relations.
